Portable cots are the perfect baby bed solution when on holidays. Having one will ensure that both you and your baby will get a good night’s sleep, guaranteeing you are well rested to make the most your holiday. Traveling with a baby can be a lot of extra work, especially with all toys, clothes and equipment you now have to bring with you. Portable cots add to the luggage – but if it means your baby, and thus you, get a good night’s sleep then the investment is worth it.

The majority of portable cots consist of four high sides made of fabric mesh, a collapsible frame and a folding mattress – allowing them to be easily transported and stored. Many of the newer travel cots are now three-in-one, acting as portable cots, a bassinette and a changing table.

It is important to note there is an Australian standard for portable cots – AS/NZS 2195:1999. Yet this is a voluntary standard which manufacturers of portable cots are recommended, but not obliged to follow. It is highly recommended that you make sure the portable cot you are buying meets this standard.
